Bleaune
(26, France-Portugal)

Bleaune is an oil pastel artist, born in France and currently based in Portugal. Having studied Fine Arts in both France and Italy, this artist works primarily by applying oil pastel directly by hand. Rooted in emotion and inner experience, the practice focuses on portraiture, with an emphasis on creating a sense of movement that makes each figure feel alive.

A defining element of the work is a line called “The Lifeline,” which begins at the pupil and runs down the face. It represents the traces shaped by emotions and life experiences over time—marks that may be hidden or embraced, but never truly disappear. Through this, the artist conveys that these traces are universal, and that emotion is what ultimately connects us all.

Although drawing and painting have been present since early childhood, the deeper significance of art is closely tied to personal experiences. At the age of five, the artist developed a stutter, making communication difficult and often frustrating. Later, at thirteen, moving away from their hometown to an island brought a strong sense of isolation. These experiences led the artist back to painting as a vital means of processing emotions and expressing what could not be said through words.

For this artist, art is more than a practice—it is a way to release unspoken feelings and to connect with the world. The piece “I’ll wait,” created using hand-applied oil pastel, reflects this context, capturing a sense of emotion, time, and quiet endurance.
